Suncoast Credit Union, Tampa, FL

2017 Volunteer of the Year

Julie Renderos, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Suncoast Credit Union was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award. This award recognizes contributions to the Council, which as a member-led organization relies on volunteers. Renderos served on the CUNA Governmental Affairs and Regulatory Committee for Accounting Matters, served as Chair on the CUNA Accounting Advisory Committee and the CUNA Council Regulatory Committee.

Renderos has been named one of the credit union industry’s top experts on CECL from an accounting perspective. She receives numerous requests to explain CECL’s impact on credit unions. She has spoken on the industry’s behalf to the U.S. Treasury, FASB Board, and the AICPA.  According to her interview last year in the Credit Union Times, she’s been watching CECL since 2012. She encourages credit unions to start collecting historical loan-level data immediately especially in the event of a future core conversion. She is a great advocate for the industry.
