Technology Excellence Award Winners Roundtable

Each year the CUNA Technology Council asks its members to nominate others or themselves who they feel deserve recognition for something accomplished during the past year. This year, as in prior years, we had many entries from Council members, all of whom should be proud of their impressive accomplishments. From these entries, 5 winners were chosen who most demonstrated excellence in the use of technology in greatly enhancing their credit union's level of member service and experience, and improving the effectiveness of credit union operations and marketing.

Please join us in a roundtable presentation by 4 of the winners of the 2014 Excellence in Technology Award who will describe how they created a new centralized branch service model with an interactive experience via video chat or phone call, developed an innovative approach to wireless access for members and employees as well as wireless branch connectivity redundancy, created full service kiosks to improve member service convenience and implemented a new approach to data backups and disaster recovery preparedness.

In addition to hearing about these award-winning best practices, roundtable attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions to learn more about how the concepts and ideas presented could benefit their own credit union. Each of the winning entries is available on the Technology Council website for reading prior to this roundtable, and questions about any of them can be submitted beforehand when you register to attend and also during the presentation given by each award winner on the roundtable.

Speakers:

John Madsen, VP/Technology, Consumers CU

John has over 20 years of experience in IT, including over 13 years as a senior manager and is responsible for all aspects of information technology at Consumers CU. John has a B.S. in Business Administration from St. Cloud State University, as well as other Bachelors and Masters level coursework from several institutions. He has over 9 years of experience in the Credit Union industry, as well as experience in the insurance and direct marketing industries.

Lee Christiansen, Network Manager, Mountain America CU

Lee, who started at MACU in November 2012, has Specialized in supporting network technology since 1996, with an IT background that goes back further. His primary areas of specialty are network routing and switching, network security, network load balancing, and collaboration (VoIP).

Adele Glenn, Emerging Channels Innovation Architect, San Antonio Federal Credit Union

Adele Glenn is a veteran software developer and designer for credit unions. With sixteen years of industry experience in creative solutions for credit unions she currently serves on the senior executive leadership team at SACU with a focus on R&D and leading project teams in new and emerging technologies. Adele, a recognized conversion expert, came to SACU 9 years ago during their core conversion and has made San Antonio her home. Specializing in innovation and self-service project work, Adele likes to lead projects with an inventive approach. When not at work Adele is working diligently towards a 2016 graduation with her MBA program and is also a recognized Certified Cicerone (beer expert).  Adele also leads multiple regional technical groups specializing in social media. Corina Fournier, AVP Networks and Systems, MCSE, CCNA, VCP 5

Corina Fournier is an AVP of Networks and Systems at Service Credit Union out of Portsmouth, NH . She received her B.S in Information Technology- Network Management from Western Governors University and she is currently pursuing her MBA in IT, from WGU. She holds several IT certifications, including MCSE, CCNA, VCP. During her 10+ years of her IT career, she has planned, designed and implemented network/systems solutions, in line with the business vision, including, but not limited to: Email infrastructure (on premises and in-cloud), phone system implementation (Cisco, Mitel, Interactive Intelligence) and Cloud Based Management, Storage Area Network and Compute environments, Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions, automated failover of business critical applications. Corina’s experience associated with Information Technology and Security (SOX, GLBA) ranges from small to large international environments, including rollouts and migrations as well as project management skills and operational responsibilities.  She is user service oriented, providing excellent communication skills, both upwards and downwards.
