Kelly Newton

Kelly started at LGE Community Credit Union in 2010 with the intentions of only staying for six months. She never imagined working in the finance industry. She had just graduated from the University of West Georgia with a degree in Mass Communications. Her intention was to find a job in the field of Public Relations, but it was impossible to find anything that did not require prior experience. With student loan debt looming, she found a job as a Financial Service Advisor that August.  LGE Community Credit Union’s gain, PRs loss. During her first year at LGE, she worked both the teller line and in member service. Kelly quickly found that she enjoyed working with members and her coworkers and ended up staying past the six-month deadline. A year later, she moved to LGE’s newest branch and started working as a universal branch employee. This meant working as a greeter, teller, member service representative, and loan officer. It never got boring, there was always something new to learn. She worked in the branch environment for almost four years before a new opportunity came along. In June of 2014, Kelly took the position of Retail Business Analyst. As a Retail Business Analyst, Kelly researched various product offerings to see if they would be a good fit for LGE Community Credit Union. In April, Kelly was promoted to Operations Support Manager which means her responsibility has been expanded to include evaluating and improving upon the branch operation processes. In June, Kelly graduated from CUNA Management School, where for the past three years, she has been developing her operational and managerial skills. Kelly is very passionate about being a member of CUNA Operations & Member Experience Council. It allows her to network with professionals in her field, learn how to tackle big strategic issues, and provides professional growth.
