Honors and recognizes up-and-coming talent in the ranks of credit union finance leadership. The recipient of this award will be an emerging finance professional whose body of work demonstrates ongoing exceptional growth and high potential for future impact.

Eligibility
- Actively employed at a Credit Union or CUSO
- All nominees must be from a CUNA-affiliated credit union
- Currently assigned to a finance function or directly supporting finance
- Those under the age of 40, and/or those with shorter tenure
Nomination Procedures
Nominate a candidate by completing the online nomination form by April 21, 2023. Fill in what you know about the nominee. Once nominated, candidates will be contacted to complete any missing information. You may nominate more than one person.
The form asks for information on why the nominee deserves this prestigious award including the following. Limit your nomination to no more than 5 pages total.
- Why did you nominate this individual?
- Contributions to the success of the candidate’s credit union, the industry, and community
- Involvement with the CUNA Finance Council
- Assessment of potential for future contribution to the credit union industry
- Accomplishments by which the nominee has shown finance expertise and leadership
Selection Process
A panel of Executive Committee members will select the Rising Star. Preference may be given to nominees meeting the following criteria. Vetting may include dialogue with candidate’s colleagues.
- Prior CUNA Finance Council activity/involvement
- Generally, nominees will be evaluated on the following dimensions: contributions to their credit union, impact of specific accomplishments, track record of consistent performance, and potential for future contribution to industry
Winner Recognition
The winner will be announced at the CUNA Finance Council Conference. The winner will receive the following:
- A prestigious commemorative award
- A complimentary Finance Council membership for 2023-2024
- A complimentary registration to the Annual Conference
- A profile in Credit Union Magazine
- Recognition throughout the credit union industry
