This school’s content caters to every level of experience, from new-hire collections personnel to veteran managers.  No matter an attendee’s skill level coming in, they leave CUNA Collections & Bankruptcy School with new insights, perspectives and strategies to strengthen their credit union’s collections department and help it thrive.

CUNA Collections & Bankruptcy School offers collections professionals the knowledge and skillsets to solve issues from delinquencies to bankruptcy with efficiency and member-empathy. Starting with the nuts and bolts of collections, the curriculum moves through best practices, legality and specific nuanced details of managing the collections process.

  • Further understand the changing face of lending and its impact on collections 
  • Gain new insights on how to better assist members experiencing financial challenges
  • Participate in an attendee favorite, the Best Practices Roundtable session – learn from your peers for solutions to common challenges and best practices for success
  • Discover how recent court decisions impact the collection and foreclosure process
  • Apply what you’ve just learned to put into action back at your Credit Union

Not sure which track to attend?

CUNA offers two learning options for the collections and bankruptcy topics but if you can’t decide which track to go to use these tips as a guideline:

  • Consider the Introduction track if you are: 
    • New to the Collection department 
    • Have less than five years working experience in collections or any formal training
    • A member of the Credit Union management staff and need to understand the big picture of collections
  • Consider the Advanced track if you have been:
    • Working in Collections for five or more years
    • Have had training in the past and understand the basics of collections and Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcies

Who should attend?

Collections professionals at all levels, from newer collectors to veteran collections managers, as well as lending and compliance professionals who work with collections.

We care about your safety

CUNA strives to create safe, face-to-face events where Leagues, credit unions, and system partners can come together and learn from one another. We are in regular contact with event conference sites and local public health officials about the proactive measures they are taking to protect attendees' health and safety. Additionally, our staff closely tracks COVID-19 recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and will follow any applicable local and state guidelines.
