CEO, Advanz FCU, $160M in assets
Heather Walter is President/CEO of Advanz Credit Union in Louisville, Kentucky. Advanz has $160 million in assets and 10,000 members. The field of membership began for the county police officers, but the credit union now has a community charter serving 7 counties in Kentucky and 2 in Indiana and over 300 SEGs. Heather has been with Advanz since August 2012. Prior to that she was President/CEO of Louisville Gas & Electric Credit Union for more than 13 years.
Heather has a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s Degree from IU Southeast. She earned the Richard B Zimmerman Outstanding Young Leader Award and the Business First’s Forty under 40 award. She has received the following designations from CUNA: CUCE, CCUE, CFMS, CFSP, CUBLP and she is a 2002 graduate of CUNA Management School. She is one of the founding members of Credit Union Women Leadership Alliance (CUWLA). She also serves on the Tennessee League Capital Inc Board; the Kentucky Credit Union League Board; and chairs the Kentucky Credit Union League Services Board. She also serves as a volunteer for the Harrison County Community Foundation and was involved for over 18 years with Phi Beta Psi, an organization that raises money for local cancer patients and for cancer research.
She is married to Erin Walter (who is a Credit Union President/CEO too) and has two daughters, Izzy and Bethany. For fun she enjoys golf, tennis, boating, and watching the kids play in their various sports.
