Mike Beall

Michael (Mike) Beall joined CU Strategic Planning in November 2015, building on his experience assisting 25 Missouri credit unions obtain their CDFI certification and his recent work connecting credit unions and cooperatives at the National Cooperative Business Association. Mike was born to credit union parents who met in the early 1960s at Agriculture FCU, and was raised as part of the NASA FCU family.

Before joining CU Strategic Planning, Mike served over three years as the President and Chief Executive Officer of National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) and its CLUSA International overseas development arm. NCBA is the apex trade association for cooperative businesses across the United States. While there, Mike undertook a rebuilding of the organization, leading it from several years of negative earnings back to positive earnings, and increasing its international leadership in relations with Cuba and Cuban cooperatives, and developing the first Congressional Cooperative Caucus.

Prior to his work at the NCBA, Mike served as President/CEO of the Missouri Credit Union Association, where he was responsible for implementing the first statewide project to certify 25 new CDFI credit unions, bringing almost $20 million in funding to the state. He also led efforts to create Bank on More, a statewide cooperative advertising campaign that increased consumer awareness of credit unions by more than 25%. Before joining the Missouri Credit Union Association Mike served terms as the President/CEO of the Maryland and District of Columbia Credit Union Association (MDDCCUA) and as Executive Vice President of the North Carolina Credit Union League.

Mike holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland and received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law.

He is a member of the Virginia State Bar. Following law school, Mike began his credit union career as General.
