Taylor C. Nelms
Dr. Taylor C. Nelms is an anthropologist and ethnographer with more than ten years of experience studying consumer and cooperative finance in the United States, Latin America, and around the world.
As the Senior Director of Research at Filene, Taylor manages a team of researchers and a portfolio of partnerships with leading scholars to pursue cutting-edge, actionable research that explores people’s changing economic lives, the business of financial services, and the past, present, and future of money and technology.
Before joining Filene, Taylor worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Irvine, where he received his PhD in Anthropology. He also spent time at the Institute of Money, Technology & Financial Inclusion at UC Irvine, and he now serves as Editor-at-Large (former Editor-in-Chief) of the Journal of Cultural Economy. He also holds degrees from The Ohio State University and University of Cambridge, where he was a Gates-Cambridge Scholar.
Taylor grew up in Southern Illinois near the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Taylor loves spending his free time with his family and friends.
